| 1 - Archaeological complex of Caral This tour is priced at $180 per person for 2 to 3 passengers and $150 per person for 4 to 6 passengers. Caral was constructed more than 5000 years ago and is considered to be the oldest known city in South America. It was described by Dr. Ruth Shady in 1994. Caral has at least 18 pyramids that are contemporary with those in Giza, Egypt. It is so large that it is still being excavated and rebuilt. Caral was probably constructed some 7,000 to 8,000 years after humans first arrived in the Americas. This tour includes transportation from Lima to Caral to Huacho, and back to Lima in a tourist van. It also includes the services of a professional guide and entrance into the archaeological complex of Caral. Itinerary of the tour: 7 AM - we leave on the way to Caral, to begin our adventure. Caral can be found in the Valley of Supe on the Pan American Highway, some 182 km north of Lima. 10:30 AM- to arrive at the archaeological complex of Caral, we walk for a few minutes on a path and view the tropical vegetation typical of this area. We have the opportunity to see the irrigation canals in this desert zone. We see certain areas that are cultivated with beans, sugar cane, corn, yucca, in different fields that are rotated. This wall will take us by the side of the river Supe. 11 AM- We meet our guide for the archaeological site of Caral. Here we can appreciate the distinct instruction of six monumental pyramids, which is known as the architectural home of the first civilization of Peru and America. 1 PM-We have lunch at this time (not included). On the weekends a menu is available in Caral. But on Monday to Friday we must return to the city of Hucaho for lunch. On the plaza of this historical city there are various good restaurants. 3:30 PM-We leave to return to the city of Lima. 6:30 PM-We arrive in Lima, return you to your hotel, and finish our tour. |
