VISAs for Foreigners living in Peru more than  90 days:

Two important types of VISAs for foreigners in Peru are  Rentista (Foreign income) and Independent
Investor. It's not difficult to get a rentista visa if you have income or a pension. Investor visas require
that you have $25,000 or more invested in a Peru business and are more difficult to get requiring more
paperwork. Other types of visas are for students, family relations, and workers.

Here is some information about the rentista visa. You do not pay Peruvian tax if you are already retired,
and get or will get a retirement pension from your country.  You won't even have to pay income tax to
Peruvian Government (SUNAT).  Is not mandatory to be retired to get a rentista visa though you do need
a steady monthly income from abroad, or even from a Peruvian source (in the latter you will have to pay
taxes).  Some of the benefits of a rentista Visa: (1) you won't have to worry about visa extensions, as
they are not needed, you get Peruvian residency indefinitely. (2) also exempt from annual foreigner fee
(but you will need to get a hologram though every year); (3) you don't have to pay any taxes - if retired or
if you get any other disability pension; (4) no duty to be paid at Peruvian customs when your stuff
arrives.

If retired your Pension must be deposited (wired, ect) through a local bank in order to show immigration
authorities that you are actually getting it from abroad when you request the visa. Your  monthly income
must be over USD 1,000.00 from foreign sources.
