Every Saturday morning Lima locals flock to Parque
Reducto in Miraflores to buy fresh organic produce
and to taste an assortment of organic breads, jams
and coffee as part of the weekly “Bioferia.” With a
wide selection of fruits and vegetables, the Bioferia
is cheap, delicious, and unique. If you like organic
foods and drink, this is definitely is worth a visit.
The market is largely made up of a local organic
farmers and environmental, educational, and natural
health organizations, along with NGOs. It covers
almost a city block so you are certain to find
something you like!
It is a child-friendly zone so if you have your kids
with you it is safe for both them and you. There are
many hands-on education activities for the young
ones and many presentations on ecology and
organic food production.
Aside from fresh organic fruits and vegetables, you
can sample goat milk products and different local
varieties of cheese. Pick up some organic baked-
goods to take back to your hotel for a snack.
Organic jams would make an excellent choice to
take home. You can try a fresh organic juice such
as guanábana or a delicious sip of genuine Peruvian
organic coffee.
We will choose a delightful organic restaurant for
lunch.
This tour will take one-half day and includes the
services of your English-speaking guide, private
deluxe transportation, and hotel pick up.
The organic market opens at 8 a.m. and it closes at
2 p.m. It opens on Saturday only. Plan ahead and
come with us.
